This is a video explaining how to stretch correctly the piriformis muscle whilst lying down on your back.
Stretching tips:
-Lye down on your back.
-Bend the knee of the piriformis muscle you want to stretch and lay it on top of the other leg.
-Put your hand through your leg and hold your other hand.
-Gently pull the leg towards the body whilst relaxing the neck and shoulders.
-Initiate with the relax and repeat stretching method.
The relax and repeat stretching method:
-Stretch the target muscle for 5-10 seconds.
-Once stretched, relax momentarily and slowly repeat the same stretch.
-Inhale upon relaxing and slowly exhale upon stretching.
-Repeat the stretch 3-5 times per muscle and aim to slowly stretch deeper each time.
-Repeat the process on the other side.
